  • The Perks of Being a Beauty (Ugly Ducklings, #3.5)
The Perks of Being a Beauty (Ugly Ducklings, #3.5) by Manda Collins 2024-03-29T01:56:32+00:00

The Perks of Being a Beauty (Ugly Ducklings, #3.5) I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it details the life of a haughty beauty of the ton (usually the antagonist in any historical romance) AFTER circumstances cause her to fall from favor/station. Throw in a chance meeting with a once jilted suitor and you get a good deal of verbal dancing. I like the fact that there was true penitence from the heroine for past misdeeds and that the jilted suitor can see past his bitter recollections to get to understand and know each other as they are NOW and not as they were THEN. Little Women: The Screenplay "JO(money over art)"You can have it. Make the edits.""She looks back at her own piece and realizes that she might have missed the moment that she came here to master. Perhaps she’s already passed before her time. She continues working, troubled.""Laurie bows, Jo awkwardly curtsies and then they go dancing wildly up and down a wrap-around porch. It’s actually very romantic in its exuberance. Sometimes Jo is the woman and sometimes the man - same with Laurie. They are mid-spin when they see Meg wildly gesture at them from inside: She’s hurt Little Women: The Screenplay by Greta Gerwig

Indomitable (The Original Shannara Trilogy, #3.25) 2.5 stars. I like the character of Jair Ohmsford, and it was kind of fun to read a new short story about him. What I didn’t like was the premise that Brin’s magic and her sacrifices weren’t enough… I mean, what?! No way. It makes Wishsong “pointless” and I’m not okay with that. This is book 13 in Terry Brooks suggested reading order for revisiting readers Indomitable (The Original Shannara Trilogy, #3.25) by Terry Brooks

The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan 2024-03-29T01:56:32+00:00

The Keeper of Lost Things The Keeper of Lost Things is a lovely story about the things and people we lose and the possibility of finding them again. There are duel stories taking place of the two main characters, Laura and Eunice. Many tiny stories that go along with the lost things are also scattered at random through the main narrative.Laura, newly divorced and feeling bereft, gets an assistant position with a kindly, elderly man. Eunice leaves a dead end job and takes an exciting one in publishing with a witty and charismatic boss The Keeper of Lost Things by Ruth Hogan

The Lost Plot (The Invisible Library, #4) by Genevieve Cogman 2024-03-29T01:56:32+00:00

The Lost Plot (The Invisible Library, #4) Barely 3 stars. This loses a star for a tediously repetitive, lengthy middle, unmediated by the choice of a story world setting analogous to prohibition-era NYC, and peopled by flat, dimestore characters from the gangster and NYPD populations. Though there’s plenty of action, it’s a pointless merry go round of Irene and Kai, together or separately, repeatedly being captured by and escaping from various gangsters/cops/dragon. All this in and out does very little to advance or deepen the story, which is a pretty thin plot at its foundation. This is a skippable entry in the series The Lost Plot (The Invisible Library, #4) by Genevieve Cogman
