Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn 2024-03-28T16:53:55+00:00

Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life A really helpful and digestable primer for anyone interested in bringing more awareness and mindfulness to their life. Jon Kabat-Zinn writes about mindfulness in a really accessible way, and I think he’s one of the best writers on the topic. This is a good introduction to his work, with my favorite of his being “Wherever You Go, There You Are,” which was a life-changing read for me. Highly recommend his work Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Ever Wrath (A Dark Faerie Tale, #4) by Alexia Purdy 2024-03-28T16:53:55+00:00

Ever Wrath (A Dark Faerie Tale, #4) Loved this book. Arthas has determined that the boundaries of Faerie will be eliminated and he will rule the world. Shade, Dylan and her comrades are determined to stop him and his armies. Awakening the Ancients seems like her only choice, but is it the right one? Could they cause more chaos and harm than good and healing? I like how Shade is growing and changing. She is maturing and learning all through her journeys and trials. Dylan is so strong and steady Ever Wrath (A Dark Faerie Tale, #4) by Alexia Purdy

After the Kiss (Sex, Love & Stiletto, #1) 4 Rom Com StarsJulie Greene is a single woman who steers clear of commitment when it comes to dating at all costs. Who wants to get to the “comfortable” stage of a relationship when movie nights spent on the couch wearing ratty sweats counts as a date night? Certainly not Julie. When Julie’s editor asks her to write an article on the progression of a committed relationship, the stuff that comes after the first kisses and the butterflies, she’s got her work cut out for her. She has some pretty high standards, after all, and not just anyone’s going to make the cut After the Kiss (Sex, Love & Stiletto, #1) by Lauren Layne

Chasing Cassandra (The Ravenels, #6) I LOVED it, but that ending tho...It was so so so abrupt/rushed. Felt unfinished, and left me wanting. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*With Covid-19 running around causing havoc and mayhem, its important to acknowledge and appreciate the little things. Stories of Your Life and Others Story of Your LifeTold from the perspective of a mother remembering her child. Absolutely heartbreaking. And it was only 50 pages. The mother, a linguist, is recruited by the government to interpret the language of an alien species, and she adopts a new perception of reality.Easily one of the best short stories ever written. The Tower of BabylonA weird and mysterious way to start the short stories collection. Try Me (Take a Chance, #1) by Diane Alberts 2024-03-28T16:53:55+00:00

Try Me (Take a Chance, #1) This was yet another fantastic short novel by Diane Alberts! Her ability to put so much emotion into a book that takes only an hour or two to read is impeccable.Jeremy is a wounded soul. His father was an abusive alcoholic who committed murder and Jeremy was tagged as the boy on the wrong side of the tracks. He had been betrayed by his only close friend and lost the woman he loved in process. He doesn’t do serious relationships and for the most part doesn’t see himself as worthy of anything resembling a serious relationship Try Me (Take a Chance, #1) by Diane Alberts

The Iron Traitor (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #2) They changed the title from The Traitor Son to The Iron Traitor...Interesting.... Update #1: 3/2/13Ugh, something I been meaning to say about this books old title. It said The Traitor Son, and everyone jumped to the conclusion that it was Keirran, myself included when I finished The Lost Prince... Maybe the title didnt mean Keirran since the first one wasnt about him, maybe Ethan gets marked as a traitor... to his family and/or humans and now with the title change, The Iron Kingdom...Something to think about The Iron Traitor (The Iron Fey: Call of the Forgotten, #2) by Julie Kagawa

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) by Martha Wells 2024-03-28T16:53:55+00:00

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) Loved this book, its a four point five and wouldve been a full five except for the ending. For me, great scifi is when the author doesnt start out telling me how this new world works. Im far more interested in how the characters act/behave/ survive in this world that is unfamiliar to me. Good scifi hits the ground running giving the reader enough credit to keep up as the author slowly metes out the world building while setting a very dynamic conflict. My favorite scifi of late is Old Mans War, what a great read (along with the two followups). All systems Red is on this same level for me All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1) by Martha Wells

The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America by George Packer 2024-03-28T16:53:55+00:00

The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America I did like the book enough to listen to it all. There are about 20 people whose stories are told. Most of the people stories are from non-famous people with exceptions such as Colin Powell, Oprah Winfrey and Newt Gingrich. Each persons story was interesting and the author tells them very nicely. Im not sure how in total they tell the story about the unwinding of America. I usually read science books and the point behind those stories are explicit and I understand why those books are written and there is nothing left to the imagination for me to understand. This book was different The Unwinding: An Inner History of the New America by George Packer
