Stories of Your Life and Others Story of Your LifeTold from the perspective of a mother remembering her child. Absolutely heartbreaking. And it was only 50 pages. The mother, a linguist, is recruited by the government to interpret the language of an alien species, and she adopts a new perception of reality.Easily one of the best short stories ever written. The Tower of BabylonA weird and mysterious way to start the short stories collection. Turing's Cathedral: The Origins of the Digital Universe by George Dyson 2024-03-29T13:43:22+00:00

Turing's Cathedral: The Origins of the Digital Universe Summary: Great book on the genesis of the computer with a cast of characters that any math or physics nerd will find to be all-star. Even Einstein shows up.I really enjoyed hearing the actual story of how the computer came to be before and after the world wars that drove it in a particular direction and toward a particular set of use cases. You also the early days of IBM and RCA.A few other reflections after letting it digest. The book is incredibly well-researched and Dyson really seems uniquely able to tell it. Im giving it 5 stars b/c I think it deserves a higher rating Turing's Cathedral: The Origins of the Digital Universe by George Dyson

The Rebels of Gold (Loom Saga #3) . : ☾⋆ — 3.5 ★can i get an uuuuuuhhhhhhhhh i didn’t love this and i’m not sure how to feel about that!!!!!!!!!i did like it, i just didn’t love it?? this was a ~solid~ conclusion. i say ~solid~ because everything was wrapped up super nicely by the end of the book but it kind of left me feeling a little unsatisfied. truth be told, i feel like victory was obtained way too easily—considering the stakes the characters were up against, the nature of the villains, and the dangerous world they live in, in general The Rebels of Gold (Loom Saga #3) by Elise Kova

The War of Two Queens (Blood and Ash, #4) edit: 18/04/22 DNF-ing ive seen everything there is to see lmao i cant stomach the emotional cheating, jla ruined this series for meas a reader i felt deeply betrayed and blindsided by what she pulled in the 4th book because i was clearly baited! authors mention beforehand if the book is going to be rh/poly but jla did neither, she marketed this series as poppycas endgame.jla basically confirmed the emotional cheating between poppy and kieran. she also mentioned she was interested in giving isbeth a redemption arc, isbeth who r*ped both malik and casteel. this just makes me sick to my stomach.
