  • A Good Kind of Trouble
A Good Kind of Trouble by Lisa Moore Ramée 2024-03-28T23:56:04+00:00

A Good Kind of Trouble I read this book on a quest to read all of the Lone Star Books this year. I almost gave it 3 stars, but then I put my 6th grader hat on. This isnt one of those edgy Black Lives Matter books that makes headlines for challenging the norm and bringing the harsh realities to light. This is a book for a middle grade reader about how difficult it is to navigate racism, especially at that age. How to navigate friendships when people start noticing the differences. How to navigate crushes and all the big feelings that go with that A Good Kind of Trouble by Lisa Moore Ramée

  • A Christmas Memory
A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote 2024-03-28T23:56:04+00:00

A Christmas Memory Re-read and added a star. Truman Capote’s childhood memory of his adored cousin, the “sixty-something” yet childlike best friend of his youth, is brimming with richly evoked country seasonal preparations to immerse you in the holiday spirit. “Scented acres of holiday trees, prickly-leafed holly. Red berries shiny as Chinese bells: black crows swoop upon them screaming. Having stuffed our burlap sacks with enough greenery and crimson to garland a dozen windows, we set about choosing a tree. ‘It should be,’ muses my friend, ‘twice as tall as a boy. So a boy can’t steal the star A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote

Blue Reflections (Ocean Apothecary, #1) by Amanda Casey 2024-03-28T23:56:04+00:00

Blue Reflections (Ocean Apothecary, #1) This was an overall good story, but it was just a VERY slow read. It did not pick up until I was about 60% of the way through the story. I can normally read pretty quickly but this took me longer to get through cause I was having trouble getting into it. Even with that said, I will have to read the next book, I need to know what is going to happen with Selia and Damien Blue Reflections (Ocean Apothecary, #1) by Amanda Casey

  • Faerie Fruit (Wonder Tales #1)
Faerie Fruit (Wonder Tales #1) by Charlotte E. English 2024-03-28T23:56:04+00:00

Faerie Fruit (Wonder Tales #1) Good plot but slow The author has come up with an good plot...what of the lands on which we love we’re really faerie lands, swallowed up when the magic became weaker. What would have if the stolen faerie fruit trees bear fruit and mere humans eat it? Buried in the story is a tale of love and redemption. The prose is beautiful, the plot is good, the execution is slow making this a book that will do well on vacation Faerie Fruit (Wonder Tales #1) by Charlotte E. English
