Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn 2024-03-29T14:47:18+00:00

Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life A really helpful and digestable primer for anyone interested in bringing more awareness and mindfulness to their life. Jon Kabat-Zinn writes about mindfulness in a really accessible way, and I think he’s one of the best writers on the topic. This is a good introduction to his work, with my favorite of his being “Wherever You Go, There You Are,” which was a life-changing read for me. Highly recommend his work Mindfulness for Beginners: Reclaiming the Present Moment―and Your Life by Jon Kabat-Zinn

Dear Love, I Hate You (Easton High, #1) 4.5⭐️ I absolutely fell in love with this book. The pen pal trope makes me so happy. I love Xavier & Aveena and I can’t wait to see them make cameos in the rest of the series. Super excited about Finn & Dia’s book next. If you love the movie A Cinderella Story this is your kind of book. “You see, whenever you tell me I hate you from now on, it’ll mean the opposite Dear Love, I Hate You (Easton High, #1) by Eliah Greenwood

Uncharted (On the Island, #1.5) by Tracey Garvis Graves 2024-03-29T14:47:18+00:00

Uncharted (On the Island, #1.5) How this author fit such a lovely, well rounded book into a novella is beyond me, but it was perfect! And we got to see Anna and TJ again, so so happy and in love. Gosh! Okay. Remember that dot com millionaire who went missing from the Maldives, Owen Sparks? He wasn’t Bones. Anna and TJ found a skeleton in a cave when they were stranded on the same uninhabited island that Owen was previously. Only he wasn’t stranded, he was living off grid with lots of supplies, flown in by the pilot who later died flying Anna and TJ Uncharted (On the Island, #1.5) by Tracey Garvis Graves

Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #3) by Kerri Maniscalco 2024-03-29T14:47:18+00:00

Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #3) I’m not sure why I didn’t just give up but I pulled through and it didn’t even pay off. I think this series should’ve ended with Stalking Jack the Ripper. Hunting Prince Dracula was just okay but it’s not necessary and doesn’t really add much. It just becomes 3 long books of redundant murders and postmortems. And ends with Thomas and Audrey in the same place as they were in book one *insert shrug* Escaping from Houdini didn’t have much to do about Houdini. And it strays far from the lovely banter and partnership between Thomas and Audrey. Criminally so Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #3) by Kerri Maniscalco

The Collapsing Empire (The Interdependency, #1) by John Scalzi 2024-03-29T14:47:18+00:00

The Collapsing Empire (The Interdependency, #1) I tried repeatedly to read and finish this book, but finally gave up at 25 percent (DNF). Look I like John Scalzi a lot. I loved "Redshirts" and "Lock In", but this book right here is all the worst bits of "The Androids Dream" and I refuse to read that book ever again. I think the biggest issue of why I couldnt get into this book is that I felt like I just got dropped right in the middle of an interesting story. But no one wants to take the time to explain to me why this story is so interesting and just wants me to shut up and get the big picture of whatever it is I am reading The Collapsing Empire (The Interdependency, #1) by John Scalzi

When will I learn and start writing my reviews in Word and not directly on GR?Here we go again.I wouldnt have picked this to read had it not been for the raving reviews of a few GR friends, so many thanks to Esil, Glenn, Elyse and Cheri for the direct and indirect prompt.I chose to listen to the audiobook and it was just perfect, as it was narrated by Cheryl Strayed herself.I knew early on that this book was going to kill me as I wept while listening to the introduction read by Steve Almond Tiny Beautiful Things: Advice on Love and Life from Dear Sugar by Cheryl Strayed

The 4-Hour Workweek Reading the first third of this book was one of the most self-indulgent activities I’ve ever done. (And yes, I read fiction.) It was so nice to hear that someone else in the world doesnt understand why we spend so much time on meaningless meetings and other time-fillers when there are so many meaningful things we long to do.This book is worth reading though there are a few things youll have to endure to finish it:-potty-mouth words-author-coined terms and antonyms that include the word “rich” (ug The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss
